
Jackie Coates, PA-C

Jackie Coates, PA-C, is a highly experienced Physician Assistant with over 20 years of practice in orthopaedic surgery, specializing in trauma, sports medicine, wound care, and private practice settings. Her role with STBJ is as a Physician Assistant in Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery at Corpus Christi Medical Center Bay Area Hospital. Her career in orthopaedics started in 2002 after working as a laboratory technologist at University Hospital in San Antonio. Since then, she has built a diverse career serving in both hospital and private practice environments, including South Texas Bone and Joint, Coastal Orthopedics, and Christus Provider Network.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Surgical Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she graduated with honors, and her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she graduated cum laude. Jackie has been recognized with multiple academic honors, including the UAB Presidential Honor Roll and National Dean’s List distinctions. Board-certified by the NCCPA, Jackie also holds certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), wound care and maintains licensure with the Texas Medical Board. She is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, the Physician Assistants in Orthopaedic Surgery organization, and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association. Dedicated to patient care and advancing orthopaedic medicine, Jackie brings a wealth of clinical expertise, leadership, and compassion to every role she serves.
