    The Ankle & Foot

The foot and ankle are two very intricate joints. The ankle is made to place the foot, with elaborate precision in multiple directions, on the ground. It must be unyielding to maintain forces from the ground, and concurrently from the full weight of your body. It must maintain stability when pushing away from the ground in walking, but must increase in rigidity and mobility when encountering an uneven surface, keeping you from falling. The foot and knee must work together to absorb the shock after contacting the ground, but also the motions coming from the weight of the trunk and hip above. The foot and ankle, along with the knee and hip, propel the body forward. If one part of the chain is affected, ankle and foot injuries and pain can ensue. If you or someone you know if dealing with foot or ankle pain or injury, give the team at South Texas Bone & Joint a call. Making your care, our priority.
